Along beside the creek,
a cabin Ike did build.
Planted him a garden,
prayed it would yield.
Planted corn and carrots,
squash, greens, and peas.
Wiped sweat from his brow,
wishing for a breeze.
Planted peppers and melons,
okra, turnips, and potatoes.
Cucumbers, beets, asparagus,
yellow and red tomatoes.
The crops were abundant,
they froze, canned, and ate.
Ike thanked the Lord daily,
for blessing him and Kate.
Worked hard for a living,
it was year after year.
Passed away not long ago,
folks all miss them here.
